For some students it is not practical to move to Toronto to participate in a master level degree program; family, financial considerations, or work can make this impossible. Wycliffe is pleased to offer a way of completing a Master of Theological Studies degree primarily at a distance.
The MTS Distance allows students to take the majority of classes from home with ten of the twenty credits coming from online course participation, together with a choice of a two or three credit summative exercise written from home and the remaining seven or eight credits from residential week long intensive courses during the summer session.
The Master of Theological Studies is an academic program intended for those
with an undergraduate degree in any discipline seeking a general introduction
to Christian scholarship and a deepening of the theological foundations of their faith.
Students intending to develop a more systematic theological context in which to understand their lay ministry, and to develop competencies in the practice of ministry, can choose courses distributed over several disciplines.
Part time studies offer additional flexibility: up to eight years to graduate or complete in as little as thirty months.
The curriculum and faculty for the program are primarily the same as those in our residential program. As part of the Toronto School of Theology (TST) students have access to all the online courses and summer courses offered by any TST college as elective choices.
