Wycliffe College is excited to announce the launch of our 2023 Scripture & Theology Essay Competition! This competition welcomes entries from undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline from institutions around the globe. This year, competitors are invited to engage the question, "What is the heart of Paul's gospel?"
Now in its third year, Wycliffe's Scripture & Theology Essay Competition aims to encourage and support aspiring Christian scholars, as the College's active commitment to excellence in the study of both the Bible and theology as mutually informing disciplines in the service of the Christian Church. Playing a leading role in revitalizing the theological interpretation of Scripture, Wycliffe College also hosts the biannual Scripture and Theology colloquia, encouraging students, academics, pastors, and interested members of the public to participate. Essay competition winners are invited to Wycliffe for our May 2024 colloquium, where they will exchange ideas with aspiring can meet world-class scholars , who will explore the topic of Paul's gospel from an apocalyptic angle
Previous competition winners have hailed from a diverse spectrum of academic institutions, including Emory University (Georgia), Princeton Theological Seminary (New Jersey), the University of Waterloo (Ontario), and Dominican Institute Ibadan (Nigeria), among others. We look forward to receiving this cycle's contingent of essays, and we hope that competitors will be full of joy as they engage with the Gospel, "the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16, ESV).
