MDiv, 2017
PhD – Theology, 2023 (expected)

I was born in South Africa and then grew up in rural Manitoba, as well as various cities in Ontario. I originally chose Wycliffe on the recommendation of a friend who was a Wycliffe alumnus. My Master of Divinity degree cemented a call to shape the lives of students through teaching and preaching, and my master’s thesis revealed my love of research, so I started a PhD at Wycliffe immediately upon completing the MDiv.

I care a great deal about formation and community and celebrate the ways that the arts help us express theological truth. Throughout my time at Wycliffe, I have had the privilege of engaging in interdisciplinary study: writing poems as final projects; attending a month-long program in Italy through the Toronto School of Theology, where we learned about the historical relationship between the church and art; and finally writing an interdisciplinary master’s thesis, which then led to my dissertation. My research investigates the theology of death in children's literature to examine the narratives we offer children and ourselves about death in the secular West. Given my research interests, I am interested in hospital chaplaincy when I graduate from Wycliffe, as well as teaching at the undergraduate or seminary level.

My favourite thing about Wycliffe is that it is a community that gathers around prayer and remains rooted in Scripture. It has been an enormous gift to call Wycliffe home. In this environment of faith seeking understanding, I have grown in the love of God and neighbour – heart, soul, mind, and strength.
