On Monday, May 8th, 2023, convocation for the Class of 2023 was held in Sheraton Hall at Wycliffe College. It was a joyous day as we celebrated the achievements and hard work of the 47 members of the Class of 2023. The Rt Rev. Matthias Der, a member of Wycliffe's Class of 1990 and currently Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Hong Kong Island, was bestowed an honorary Doctor of Divinity by the College. The exhibition – from May 16 to October 15, 2023 – showcases 58 etchings and lithographs by the legendary artist Marc Chagall (1887-1985). This collection of prints by Chagall, curated by art collector and visual artist Sandra Bowden, is presented to the Canadian public for the first time. Convocation for the Class of 2023 will be held on Monday May 8th, 2023, in Sheraton Hall at Wycliffe College. The College will bestow an honorary Doctor of Divinity upon the Rt Rev. Matthias Der, a member of Wycliffe’s Class of 1990, who is now Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Hong Kong Island. Bishop Der will deliver the Convocation Address to the graduating class. Due to the large graduating class, seating is limited to their guests only; however, both the ceremony and Holy Eucharist will be livestreamed. Dr. Ann Jervis , Professor Emerita of New Testament at Wycliffe College, has recently completed her book, Paul and Time: Life in the Temporality of Christ . This work challenges standard interpretations of how Paul understood time that have assumed that the apostle inherited Jewish apocalyptic sequential two-age temporality. Dr. Jervis proposes instead that Paul conceived of time in terms of “life in this age” or “life in Christ”: that is, that humans apart from Christ live in this age, whereas believers live entirely in the temporality of Christ. After an international search, undertaken by a committee representing students, faculty, the Wycliffe Board, the Toronto School of Theology and the University of Toronto, we are pleased to announce the appointment of The Rev. Dr Boram Lee as Professor of Pastoral Care and Practice. The position was held by Professor Wanda Malcolm until her recent retirement.
